Dopo aver pubblicato su Sorelle d'Italia e su www.Agoravox.it la storia della ragazza stuprata a Montalto di Castro (vedi il post precedente), Daniele Mattei commentando l'articolo aggiungeva un link relativo ad una pagina dell'Unità del 2007 in cui era pubblicata una lettera del sindaco Carai "alla ragazza". Nella lettera il sindaco si dichiarava dispiaciuto e spiegava le sue ragioni.
Dopo la precisazione di Daniele Mattei ho chiamato al telefono il sindaco Carai, ma il sindaco non c'era o non mi ha voluto rispondere. In compenso la segretaria mi ha mandato il comunicato stampa che volentieri pubblico e che domani commenterò

SALVATORE, CARAI
alvatore Carai, Sindaco di Montalto di Castro, ribadisce la correttezza delle scelte Compiute dagli uffici comunali in favore delle famiglie degli otto minorenni di Montalto di Castro accusati di aver abusato nel 2007 di una minorenne di Tarquinia.. "Anqora una volta, a fronte di inesattezze e falsità pubblicate in questi giorni da alcuni organi distampa, voglio precisare che I'intervento economico a favore delle famiglie degli otto minorenni non ha comportato per il Comune di Montalto di Castro I'assunzione dell'impegno a far fronte alle spese legali da esse sostenute, ma unicamente di intervenire, come prevede la legge e come proposto dai competenti Servizi Sociali, per garantire un sostegno economico a quelle famiglie la cui condizione di profondo disagio è stata accertatà dai competenti uffici comunali.
Peraltro tengo a precisare che la somma messa a disposizione di ciascun nucleo, pari a 5.000,00euro, non è stata erogata a fondo perduto ma dietro I'assunzione di un impegno al rimborso, rimborso che peraltro sta avvenendo da parte di quelle famiglie - cinque nuclei sugli otto inizialmente previsti - che ne hanno effettivamente usufruito.
Alla luce della campagna di stampa gravemente denigratoria della mia persona e della cittadinanza di Montalto di Castro, ho ritenuto pertanto di incaricare i miei legali di valutare la ricorrenza di condotte penalmente rilevanti."
